The Journal on Excellence in College Teaching The Journal on Excellence in College Teaching (ISSN 1052-4800) is a peer-reviewed journal published at Miami University by and for faculty at universities and two- and four-year colleges to increase student learning through effective teaching, interest in and enthusiasm for the profession of teaching, and communication among faculty about their classroom experiences.
The Kentucky Journal of Excellence in College Teaching and Learning This journal will target the professional development of college/university faculty within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Its primary goal is to enhance student learning by promoting excellence in teaching in higher education institutions in Kentucky.
Phi Delta Kappan Phi Delta Kappan, the professional print journal for education, addresses policy issues for educators at all levels. Advocating research-based school reform, the Kappan provides a forum for debate on controversial subjects. Published since 1915, the journal appears monthly September through June.

What is Teaching Consultant Process (TCP) As a component of Eastern’s faculty development activities, TCP provides a consulting service to faculty who wish to analyze their teaching and implement changes.  Developed at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the early 1970’s and refined through application at many colleges and universities,  TCP has proven valuable for faculty ranging from those with little experience to seasoned teachers who simply wish to “fine tune” their techniques. more detail (downloadable Microsoft Word Document)

Greetings from the Slovak Republic

Fred Ruppel, a member of our Economics faculty, is spending a sabbatical year in the Slovak Republic as a Fulbright Scholar.  He is teaching undergraduate courses and authoring a textbook on "Economic Issues Facing the Slovak Republic".  His wife, Carol, and two youngest children, Eric (16) and Rachel (14) are with him for the entire year.  Fred will be contributing some personal "reflections" every month or two on his experience.

Two items are particularly striking to me after my 3½ months in Slovakia. The first is how much the current economic situation in the Slovak Republic reminds me of the United States in the 1950s and early 1960s. The second has to do with Catholicism, Communism and academia...>

Looking Back

After 7-1/2 months we are finally looking to the end of our time in the Slovak Republic. We are now only one month until our departure from Slovakia, then another two weeks of travel before we fly back to the USA on 22 June. We will come back with mixed emotion, and we will certainly miss Slovakia when we leave....
